What I mean is that we don't need to use/you don't need to see specific gun models like a Heckler & Kock G11 (one of the most advanced guns that never actually entered production) or FN FAL assault rifles. Personally, I've changed my mind over time and am not really in favor of real world gun models. The jack of all trades gains the biggest bang for his or her bottlecap by spreading points around and avoiding the heavy weighting that a specialist endures, but the specialist gets perks like Slayer and Sniper - perks that are intentionally better than perks available with lesser prerequisites. I think the specialist should be rewarded for 'inefficient' skill point use by gaining access to increasingly cool specialist perks. It also makes it hard for a 'casual spender' in that skill to have any chance of completing tasks that the specialist can. Going higher than 200% even for very high level characters blows out the relevance of the die roll. Start weighting the points at 50, then increase at 100, 150, and 200. I think that the skills should start low and scale earlier. This doesn't mean I think that the PCs should fail at simple tasks early on - that's what the modifier to the check is for. In addition to the uniform skill scale hinted at above, I'd like to see all the skills start low. I've been thinking about the SPECIAL skill system a lot lately. Crossbows and thrown objects were always a big part of the Mad Max films, and they could certainly be useful, IMO. Really, though, what I'd like to do is change Throwing to Missiles, encompassing all 'simple' thrown and fired devices like knives, grenades, crossbows, bows, etc.

I've always been in favor of a uniform scale for skill progression. But, on top of this, I would like to see Melee, Throwing, and Unarmed become more practical as skills throughout the game.
